MOD Shoeburyness - Exceptional Range Activity: 25 November 2024 to 15 January 2025
This is to inform you that during the period 25 November 2024 to 15 January 2025, noise generated by a series of activities at the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Test and Evaluation Range at Shoeburyness may exceed the usual self-imposed limit of 125 decibels (dB) at offsite monitors.
QinetiQ operates the facility on behalf of the MOD and as part of our daily process to manage explosive activity we conduct acoustic forecasting, modelling, test shots and monitoring. If it is assessed that the upper self-imposed limit of 125dB might be exceeded, the work is postponed until more favourable conditions prevail. However, it is not always possible to delay some work and these particular activities will proceed as long as predictions do not indicate that the MOD-adopted maximum noise limit of 140dB will be exceeded.
This exception to the application of the usual upper limit (125dB), will only apply to a single event, conducted on four different days, during the specified period. All other work conducted during this period will be subject to the usual upper limit.
Anyone with concerns about Range activity can contact the Careline team on qqshbenquiries@qinetiq.com or 0800 0560108.
