6th May Elections

22/04/2021 The number of elections and candidates means that polling day on 6 May 2021 is one of the biggest ever held in the UK. Our colleagues in the Borough, City and District Councils have well advanced plans for the delivery of the polls in a safe way. However, our colleagues need a few more people to help on polling day. You don’t need elections experience – though that would be helpful – but you need to be good with customers, have sound administration experience and be able to respond to queries. Staff are required to have the polling station prepared and opened between 7am and 10pm on polling day and will need to attend an online training session and arrange to collect the ballot box etc before polling day and drop it off to the count venue on the close of polls. The work isn’t suitable for people who are campaigning or involved in the political side of the election. The fee for a presiding officer is at least £220, with more payable in Epping Forest and Brentwood. In addition, a fee for attending training and mileage will be paid. To find out more please contact your local elections office, which are listed on this page: https://www.essex.gov.uk/county-council-elections/working-at-elections If you are interested in working on the election, please contact your local elections office through the hyper link above and not the EALC or ECC as the initiative is driven by the Essex County Council and EALC are simply forwar
